* David G. Kleine; Former Ventura College Teacher

David G. Kleine, a former high school and Ventura College teacher, died Wednesday in Ventura of cancer. He was 68.

Kleine was born Jan. 11, 1932, in Santa Barbara. He graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

He had been a Ventura County resident for 36 years, after moving from King City. For the past 25 years Kleine lived in Oak View.

He had been an agriculture teacher at the high school level for 10 years, and for 26 years he taught at Ventura College, where he also served as chairman of the Agriculture Department.

Kleine, who was also a rancher in Ojai, was a member of several organizations and boards that supported agriculture. Among them are state and local cattlemen associations, the UC Riverside School of Agriculture advisory board, Future Farmers of America and the Ventura County Farm Bureau. He served as superintendent of livestock at the Ventura County Fair for several years.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Susan; sons Neil Kleine of Palm Desert and Vance Kleine of Templeton; stepchildren Chris Michalopoulos of Scotts Valley, Mike Michalopoulos of Glendale and Stephanie Morton of Ventura; and sister Pat Wells of Nipomo.

A memorial service will be held at a date yet to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a favorite charity or the Santa Barbara Civic Light Opera. Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.
