Officials Seek Clues in Explosions at School
Three explosive devices have gone off in recent weeks at a junior high school campus in Ontario, breaking a window in at least one case but hurting no one, authorities said Tuesday.
Officials at Woodcrest Junior High and police investigators wouldn’t describe the devices, but said they increased in complexity from the first detonation on Aug. 27 to the last on Oct. 16. The second device exploded Aug. 29.
The explosions occurred when no one was on campus, investigators said. One shattered a window.
“If we don’t stop this right here and now, something is going to happen,” said Ontario bomb and arson investigator Frank Huddleston. “I’d hate to see someone lose his life over this.”
Huddleston appealed to the public for help. “My belief is that [the people responsible] have talked about it, bragged about it, and we’d like to talk to people they’ve talked to,” he said.
