Forum Today for Council Candidates
Voters will get a chance to size up City Council candidates today at a forum sponsored by the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce.
All but one of the seven candidates have confirmed they will attend the forum, scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Grand Vista Hotel on Enchanted Way.
Comcast Cablevision will show a tape of the forum at 8 p.m. Nov. 2 on Channel 19, said Michael Carney, chairman of the chamber committee that organized the forum.
State Sen. Cathie Wright (R-Simi Valley) will be the moderator. She will ask the candidates questions and read questions from the audience.
The candidates scheduled to appear at the forum include Mayor Bill Davis and his challenger, Mary Mikesell. Council members Steve Sojka and Barbra Williamson and their challengers, James Mackelburg and Charles P. Misseijer, are also scheduled to participate. Council candidate Brian Wilson has told chamber officials he won’t be able to attend, Carney said.
