COSTA MESA
The Police Department’s traffic bureau will conduct a sobriety checkpoint tonight to screen for motorists driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The checkpoint will stop drivers traveling westbound on 19th Street at Meyer Place from 9 p.m. today to 2 a.m. Saturday.
Authorities said the purpose of the checkpoint is to educate the public about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. The checkpoint is part of the DUI program funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
