There’s Nothing Like These Rating Systems
It’s hard to agree that Virginia Tech is a legitimate No. 1 contender. It has spent most of the season beating up on cream puffs like Akron, Temple and Rutgers. If Tech insists on competing at the same low level, the least it can do is add some human interest by scheduling nearby Georgetown next year. The battle between the Hokies and the Hoyas would be the first game in NCAA history in which nobody in the world had the slightest clue what either team’s nickname meant.

Chris Dufresne blasts college football coaches and athletic directors for not keeping up with the action, as the USA Today/ESPN poll had the Washington Huskies ranked higher than the Oregon Ducks even though Oregon had beaten Washington.
Further down the page, [Oct. 20] Dufresne, who has never liked Pac-10 football, has his own ratings as he lists Miami at No. 2, Oregon at No. 7 and Washington at No. 9.
Hello, Chris, park your East Coast bias and do your homework! Washington beat Miami. Using Dufresne’s system, shouldn’t Oregon and Washington be ranked higher than Miami?
