5 Killed When Car Crashes Into Pole
Five men were killed Saturday in Torrance after their car went out of control and crashed into a power pole, authorities said Sunday.
Four men were declared dead at the scene of the crash in the 400 block of Van Ness Avenue. The fifth man was pronounced dead at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, officials said.
Torrance police Lt. Marc Wilkins said the 1995 Mercury Mystique was traveling at a high rate of speed when the car crashed into the pole about 11:35 p.m.
“Rain was not a factor in this, and only one car was involved,” Wilkins said.
The identities of the dead men were not immediately available as authorities continued to investigate the accident Sunday.
