A Vote for Horse Trips
Regarding Paul Levine’s letter (“Horse Trips? Whoa!,” Aug. 13) giving his objections to horse-packing trips into the Sierra Nevada: Not everyone can backpack, and one would be quite presumptuous to believe only the physically fit should be allowed to enjoy our wonderful Sierra. My family has been packing into the Sierra since the late 1880s. My grandmother first packed into the Sierra at 3 months old, and her last trip was on her 73rd birthday.
