The city’s Parks and Recreation Department will host its first Chili Cook-Off and Fall Family Hoedown on Sept. 24 at Hurless Barton Park, 4601 Casa Loma Ave.
Chili cook-off participants are required to provide a minimum of three gallons of chili to taste. The city will supply booth space and tasting cups. First place wins $100, second $75 and third $50.
The event will also feature food, hayrides, pony rides and live entertainment. Tickets are $7 per person, with free admission for children under 2. The event begins at 1 p.m. Information: (714) 961-7181.
