Unseeded Ardy Wiranata of Colorado Springs beat Darren Hall of England, 17-15, 6-15, 15-7, to advance to today’s semifinals in the U.S. Open Badminton Championships in Orange. Other quarterfinal winners were Anders Boessen of Denmark, Daniel Eriksson of Sweden and Mark Constable of England.

In women’s singles, Meiluawati of Colorado Springs defeated So Young Lee of South Korea, 11-3, 11-3, to advance to the semifinals. Hyun Sook Kim and Ma Ree Choi of South Korea and Christina Sorensen of Denmark also won quarterfinal matches.
