Denver Bronco wide receiver Ed McCaffrey has been downgraded from probable to questionable for today’s game against the Atlanta Falcons in Denver.

McCaffrey did not practice Thursday because of a groin injury. His status was changed Saturday because Coach Mike Shanahan said he will not make a decision until game time. Robert Brooks probably will start if McCaffrey does not play.

The Broncos’ injury woes worsened Saturday as receiver Billy Miller was added to the inactive list. He joined linebacker Al Wilson, offensive tackle Cooper Carlisle and defensive tackle Jerry Johnson, who were all put on the list Friday.

Running back Terrell Davis, who has a sprained left ankle, was confined to individual drills in a limited workout Friday. Shanahan said his availability also would be a game-time decision.

The Broncos, who have lost injured running back Olandis Gary for the season, signed running back KaRon Coleman to the active roster from the practice squad.

The New England Patriots, hoping to improve their struggling offensive line, signed free-agent guard Joe Andruzzi. The Patriot offensive line allowed six sacks in a 21-16 loss to Tampa Bay last week.

To make room for Andruzzi, New England waived tight end Chris Fontenot.
