An organization that fosters opportunities in the entertainment industry for people with disabilities opened an office Wednesday.

The Media Access Office will provide a professional platform for performers with disabilities, including casting services, classes and workshops that build competitive skills and offer career guidance.

“We work to get people with disabilities in the entertainment industry,” Media Access Office spokeswoman Jennifer Lingua said. “That includes placement in feature films, television shows and commercials.”

The new office also will offer drama and dance classes each month and a job club that matches individuals with jobs.

The Media Access Office was established in 1980 by professionals in the entertainment and media industries and the California Governor’s Committee for Employment of Disabled Persons.
