Failure to Track Sales

Far from garnering any support or sympathy from me, I applaud the district attorney’s attempt to convict the feed store owners for their refusal to record their sales of iodine crystals, which can be used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine (Sept. 11). Their defense of not believing that they “have to do the job of law enforcement” is ridiculous and a cover for their desire to earn money at anybody’s expense.

Identification is checked when merchants sell cigarettes, and gun store owners require certain information from prospective gun buyers when they purchase firearms. None of these groups suggest that they are not trained to identify unscrupulous customers or that they require protection from customers turned away. Do not let the advanced age of these defendants sway the need for equal justice to be applied.
