Resident Jan Sener is one of only seven people in the nation who will accept a 2000 Award of Excellence in Crime Prevention from the National Crime Prevention Council on Sept. 29 in Washington.

Sener has been helping prevent crime in San Clemente for 18 years, working as a liaison between the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and the public.

Sener also served as a crime prevention instructor at Golden West College in Huntington Beach for three years and on a state attorney general’s office advisory panel to help create a community-oriented policing program.
