PLACENTIA

At a City Council meeting Tuesday, a group of residents expressed their support for Councilwoman Maria Moreno, who successfully sued the city to have her name placed on the ballot after she missed the filing deadline.
Moreno has still had to contend with her opponents for the council seat. They feel the judge erred in ruling that the city clerk’s office was to blame, giving Moreno an incorrect filing date.
“I support Maria and feel sorry about all this she’s had to endure,” said Bill Zavala, who has lived in Placentia for 45 years. “We need to live in a city that recognizes its diversity.”
More than 30 residents appeared in support of Moreno.
