A Belgrade court found President Clinton and other world leaders guilty of war crimes and sentenced them--in absentia--to 20 years in prison for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s 1999 air war against Yugoslavia. The four-day trial was seen as a bid to win votes for President Slobodan Milosevic ahead of elections Sunday. The court in Belgrade, the Yugoslav and Serbian capital, pronounced Clinton, Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and 12 others “guilty as charged.” Albright shrugged off her sentence, saying, “I think that Milosevic is going to do everything he can to steal the election.”
