Clouds Expected to Stay Through Weekend

A deep marine layer is expected to hover over Ventura County for most of the weekend, bringing continued cloudy skies and a slight chance of drizzle this morning, the National Weather Service reported.

Temperatures will also remain on the cooler side, meteorologists said.

High temperatures today are expected to reach the low 70s, with lows tonight and Sunday in the low to mid-50s.

Light showers, a product of a thickened marine layer and an on-shore flow, are forecast through the late morning. But skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy along the coast through Sunday, becoming partly cloudy inland.

“This is somewhat unusual for this time of year,” said Joe Sirard, a federal meteorologist. “But we can go through periods like this pretty much any time.”

A trace of rain fell in Point Mugu on Friday, while Thousand Oaks recorded 0.4 of an inch and downtown Ventura, 0.3 of an inch.
