2 Accused in Hiding of Abortion Fugitive
Two New York anti-abortion activists were indicted on obstruction-of-justice charges for allegedly harboring James Charles Kopp, the suspect in the slaying of a Buffalo-based doctor who performed abortions.
A federal grand jury in Buffalo indicted Dennis Malvasi, 51, and his wife, Loretta Marra, 37.
Malvasi and Marra are suspected of helping Kopp evade arrest after the fatal shooting of Dr. Barnett Slepian through the window of his home in the Buffalo suburb of Amherst on Oct. 23, 1998.
Kopp was arrested last week in France.
