With music pumping and Red Bull and vodka cocktails flowing, the festive atmosphere of Freddie Rojas’ show complemented the designer’s winning collection of punk-tinged club wear. Guests crowded around a runway in the parking lot behind the Melrose Avenue Rojas store and watched the parade.

For men, Rojas showed plenty of “destroyed” jeans textured with gold and silver paint, and great sleeveless T-shirts with the outline of an untied bow tie spray-painted on the collar.

For women, magenta metallic paint-covered leather jeans were paired with exaggerated 1980s gold chain belts. On the slightly more serious side, a black-and-white herringbone woman’s suit sparkled with gold thread, and a black lace short-sleeved blouse had sleeves that looked as if they had been dipped in gold paint.

The high point of the show was Rojas’ fun variations on the tux shirt, including one sleeveless number with neon pink ruffles. He also designed “tux T-shirts” with ruffles crossing the chest diagonally. It was enough to make one break out in song.
