Cox Nomination

* I was interested to read of Rep. Christopher Cox’s likely nomination as a federal judge on the U.S. 9th Circuit Court by the Bush administration (April 5). As a constituent of Rep. Cox’s (R-Newport Beach), I can say that he was always good for a laugh, whether he was extolling the virtues of “Star Wars” (the weapons system, not the movie) or railing against Chinese spies (somewhat ironic, that).
I urge the Democrats in the Senate to give this nomination all of the scrutiny it so richly deserves and to move forward with the same speed that the Republicans handled President Clinton’s appointees. Surely, the representative deserves nothing less than the full treatment. At that rate, Cox will be donning the robes just as Dubya is saying his goodbyes to the White House TV repairman.
