PricewaterhouseCoopers, the world’s largest accounting and consulting company, plans to fire up to 8% of employees in its U.S. consulting business as slowing economic growth leads the firm’s clients to slow or cancel planned consulting services. Spokeswoman Sehra Eusufzai confirmed the dismissals, which will affect 750 to 1,000 of the consulting unit’s 12,000 employees. About 250 people from the firm’s Midwest business unit will be affected, according to a company e-mail. The process is expected to be completed by the end of April.
