Braverman Reaches Girls’ 18 Final

Eighth-seeded Natalie Braverman of Newport Beach reached the finals of the National Open girls’ 18 tournament Tuesday in Torrance by posting two victories. She defeated second-seeded Allison Hashmall of New York in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-3, and ninth-seeded Casey Cross of Rancho Mirage, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3, in the semifinals.

The tournament is a qualifier for the U.S. Tennis Assn. national clay courts tournament this summer.

FOOTBALL

San Clemente’s Taylor Kunzi, The Times’ All-Orange County second-team punter, has signed to play at California in the fall, his family said.

Kunzi, 6 feet, 215 pounds, had only nine of 41 punts returned last season and averaged 38.8 yards. He also made seven of 12 field goals for the Tritons (8-3).
