The name of a young woman killed in a car crash Saturday afternoon near Camarillo Airport was released Sunday as authorities announced they had jailed her boyfriend on suspicion of driving drunk and causing the crash.

Oralia Rodriguez, 20, of Camarillo died instantly when the car swerved off 5th Street near Pleasant Valley Road, rolled several times and landed upside down in a ditch, authorities said.

Martin Hernandez, 20, of Camarillo lost control of his 1986 Nissan Stanza while passing another car, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Hernandez suffered minor cuts and was jailed on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and drunk driving. His bail was set at $50,000.

Authorities on Saturday had identified Hernandez as Rodriguez’s husband but said Sunday he was her boyfriend.

A back-seat passenger, Cesar Gomez Morales, 20, of Camarillo was ejected from the car and suffered major injuries. He was in serious condition Sunday night at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.

Mitch Breese, a senior deputy investigator for the Ventura County medical examiner, said an autopsy on Rodriguez was scheduled for today.

Rodriguez moved to Camarillo from Mexico about a year and a half ago, Breese said. Her parents live in Mexico and her brother, Manuel Rodriguez, resides in Camarillo. Funeral arrangements were pending, Breese said.
