A professional stunt driver injured while filming the Fox television show “Titus” remained hospitalized in serious but stable condition Wednesday.

Brian Carson, 44, of Simi Valley, a seasoned stunt man, broke five ribs and was rendered unconscious Tuesday in the 5:30 p.m. stunt at Los Angeles County Raceway in Lancaster, said 20th Century Fox spokesman Steven Melnick.

The stunt involved Carson’s driving about 60 mph up a ramp and an explosion under the ramp causing the car to flip, landing on all four tires--just as intended.

“We’re still not sure how he was injured,” Melnick said.

“He seems to have done the stunt as he wanted to, but when the car flipped and everyone ran out to tell him how great it was, they found him unconscious.”

Series star Christopher Titus and other members of the production crew were with Carson late Tuesday at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.

The accident occurred as the film crew was finishing the day’s shoot. Production resumed Wednesday.
