The Kings have won their last two games but haven’t won three consecutive playoff games since 1993, when they won Games 6 and 7 of the conference finals against the Toronto Maple Leafs and the first game of the Stanley Cup finals against Montreal. . . . The Kings are 13-18 in overtime playoff games. Before Belanger’s winner Wednesday, they last won in overtime May 27, 1993, in Game 6 of the conference finals against Toronto. Their last overtime loss, incidentally was June 7, 1993, in Game 4 of the finals against Montreal.

Although the Red Wings continue to say Brendan Shanahan (broken foot) and Steve Yzerman (ankle injury) are out indefinitely, King radio analyst Daryl Evans believes one--or both--will return before the series is over. “I would not be surprised to see one, and that would probably be Shanahan,” Evans said. “Just as long as he doesn’t have a displaced fracture, I’d bet he’ll come back, just to bring a different emotional element in there.”
