Re: “Theme Parks Hoping for Smooth Ride Through Slump” [April 15]:

I took my three grandchildren, ages 10 through 12 (the ideal age, according to the park), to California Adventure on a nice day during spring break.

The first surprise was being told that they no longer honor a Disney Club membership for the small ($2) discount that has been a selling point of the club.

In spite of arriving in the middle of the day, usually a peak time, we found minimal waits for attractions. Indeed, the kids rode the roller coaster five times and “Soaring” twice, as well as trying most of the other attractions.

At the end of the day, I asked them which park they preferred, and the unanimous response was “Disneyland. There is no reason to come back here.”

Maybe Disney should rethink their policy of charging an exorbitant admission for half (or fewer) of the attractions that Disneyland offers for the same price. Then maybe they will get repeat business.
