Speilberg and Scouts
* Bravo to Steven Spielberg for his principled stand in quitting the board of the Boy Scouts in protest of their bigotry against gay boys and young men (April 17). Spielberg has long been someone who has honored the “righteous” Gentiles who helped save Jews during the Holocaust. Clearly, he himself is now a righteous heterosexual who is saying a loud “no” to unfair prejudice against lesbian and gay Americans. As a gay American citizen who will be forced to leave my country next year because my relationship with my Australian partner of seven years is given no rights in America, I can only thank Spielberg and say we need millions more like him.
