Bobby Abreu homered, drove in four runs and scored three times Tuesday night as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the San Diego Padres, 12-7, at San Diego.

Rickey Henderson, pinch-hitting for Padre reliever David Lee, tied Babe Ruth’s career record of 2,062 walks in the sixth inning.

Held out of the starting lineup because he was batting only .111, Henderson worked the count full, fouled off a pitch and then walked on a 90 mph fastball from reliever Chris Brock.

Standing on first base, Henderson took off his helmet and pointed toward the stands.

But Henderson was stranded and the Padres lost for the eighth time in nine games after giving up season highs in runs and hits (17).

With each regular getting at least one hit, the National League East-leading Phillies won their fifth in a row and had season highs in runs and hits.

Cincinnati 9, San Francisco 5--Sean Casey drove in three runs and pitcher Jim Brower brought home the go-ahead run with his first career run batted in as the Reds won at San Francisco.

San Francisco failed to sell out Pacific Bell Park for the first time in 91 games since the stadium opened last year, drawing 40,723--336 short of capacity.

Cincinnati, which won its fifth consecutive road game, set an NL record by not getting shut out for the 182nd consecutive game, one more than Philadelphia from 1893-95. The 1931-33 New York Yankees set the major league record at 308.

Brower’s double in the fourth inning scored Jason LaRue for a 4-3 lead.

Colorado 14, Chicago 1--Larry Walker homered twice and had five RBIs as the Rockies overwhelmed Cub starter Kevin Tapani in an easy victory at Denver.

Todd Helton added two hits, including a three-run homer, to help the Rockies beat Tapani (3-1) for the first time in seven tries.

Walker’s second homer, a two-run shot off Todd Van Poppel, was his 11th, tying him for the major league lead with Arizona’s Luis Gonzalez.

Houston 11, Atlanta 6--Moises Alou hit two home runs and drove in four runs at Houston, helping Shane Reynolds defeat the Braves for the first time in nearly four years.

Alou tied his career high with four hits and had his 17th multihomer game in the majors.

Reynolds (1-1) beat Atlanta for the first time since Aug. 20, 1997. He had gone 0-4 with a 6.48 earned-run average in six starts against the Braves since then.

St. Louis 7, Montreal 2--Darryl Kile dominated the Expos for the third consecutive time and rookie Albert Pujols had two doubles and three RBIs in the Cardinals’ victory at St. Louis.

Kile (3-2) gave up five hits in seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and no walks, retiring his last eight batters. He is 3-0 against Montreal in the last two seasons, giving up one run in 23 innings.
