A 27-year-old Lancaster man was charged Wednesday with felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter for allegedly hitting a woman with his van and fleeing.

Jesus Ruelas is to be arraigned today in East Los Angeles.

Authorities allege Ruelas was driving a 1996 Dodge Caravan when it struck and killed Marina Carrillo, 40, in City Terrace last month. He allegedly fled the scene and was arrested by the California Highway Patrol the next day.

If convicted, Ruelas faces up to five years in state prison.
