Council Revokes Club’s Permit to Serve Alcohol
The troubled Cloud 9 Hollywood nightclub lost its ability to sell alcohol after the Oxnard City Council voted early Friday to revoke its permit.
Oxnard police and inspectors from the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control told the City Council that the A Street club was acting more like a bar than a restaurant, had become a neighborhood nuisance and showed little evidence of serving food as required by its permit.
Club owners denied serving drinks to minors and said police reports of illegal activity inside were highly exaggerated.
The council voted 3 to 1 to revoke the club’s special use permit that allowed it to serve alcohol along with food.
Club owners could not be reached for comment Friday.
