Crystal Cruises has added two short cruises from Los Angeles to Mexico aboard its 940-passenger Symphony in January. Most Crystal itineraries are 12 days or more. On a six-day itinerary departing Jan. 4, the ship will sail to Acapulco, calling at Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta. A seven-day cruise will depart Acapulco for Los Angeles on Jan. 10, with stops in Zihuatanejo, Mazatlan and La Paz. Prices start at $1,485 per person, double occupancy....Tourism growth in the Orlando area, home to theme parks and the nation’s most popular travel destination, slowed to a trickle last year, according to statistics released last week. The central Florida area, which saw a 10% increase in visitors in 1999, had 43.2 million visitors in 2000--an increase of 1.6% from the previous year, according to the Orlando/Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau.... A series of “behind-the-scenes” tours of 75 New York City museums and other landmarks is being offered through Sept. 30. Called Insider’s Hour, the program includes a two-hour walking tour of the financial district and highlights of the American Museum of Natural History, among others.
