Japan’s Apology

Share

In “One Sorry Editorial” (editorial, July 22), I find the paragraph regarding Japan to be totally irrelevant to the overall context of what the editorial wants to say.

My government has expressed its heartfelt apologies and deep remorse on many occasions to the nations and the people who suffered from Japan’s war actions. One important statement in this regard was the one by then-Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama, representing the official government of Japan. The statement was issued in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II. It has repeatedly been confirmed by the successive prime ministers.
