A Lancaster woman was sexually assaulted by a man who broke into her home Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The woman told police she woke up about 8:30 a.m. when she heard someone rummaging through drawers in the bedroom of her home in the 2800 block of Minford Street. She did not know how the intruder, who was in his mid-20s and weighed about 150 pounds, got into the house, police said.

After the assault, the man fled in the woman’s Nissan Sentra, also taking her cellular phone, said Deputy Mark Round of the Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lancaster station.

After the man fled, the woman ran to a neighbor’s house with her child and called police.

The victim and her child were taken to Antelope Valley Hospital.

Round said authorities are still looking for the car.
