Prosecutors filed charges against Slobodan Milosevic’s daughter Friday for shooting a pistol into the air during the former president’s arrest in April.

Marija Milosevic was charged with public endangerment and illegal handgun possession, the state-run Tanjug news agency said.

If found guilty, she could face up to three years in prison.

Prosecutors allege that Milosevic’s daughter fired her gun when government officials came to take the former president to prison to face corruption charges, ending a siege at his Belgrade villa.

She later told media that she was “distraught about her father being taken away” and that she had consumed a full bottle of cognac on an empty stomach before firing the shots.

Although she had the proper permits for the gun she used, she was also charged with carrying a second revolver that was not licensed.
