Missing Documents May Delay AremisSoft Filing

AremisSoft Corp. said Tuesday that it doesn’t expect to file its latest quarterly financial report with the Securities and Exchange Commission on time because some documents may be missing. The New Jersey-based maker of business-management software is cooperating with an SEC investigation of the company’s emerging-markets unit.

The company said it discovered the documents were missing as it worked to complete its second-quarter financial statements and provide information to its independent auditor, PKF. AremisSoft said it hired Deloitte & Touche to help locate the documents.

Also Tuesday, AremisSoft dropped a lawsuit it had filed claiming that several of its investors, and Internet business news service TheStreet.com, had libeled the company and manipulated its stock price.

AremisSoft shares (AREM) had fallen 81 cents to $11.19 in afternoon trading when Nasdaq halted trading.
