Videotape Shows How ‘Polite Bandit’ Works
Police on Thursday released a videotape of a man dubbed the “polite bandit,” who flashed a gun at a discount store clerk before fleeing with $500 from the register.
The tape shows a heavyset man with gray-blond hair wearing shorts, a hat, sunglasses and white surgical gloves, said Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
“Give me everything in the register, please,” the man tells the clerk. “Don’t worry about the change.”
As the clerk stuffs money into a black plastic bag, the robber says, “Thank you.”
Amormino said the robber may have had a female accomplice.
