Two men were killed and a woman was wounded when gunmen opened fire with assault rifles and handguns outside a coming-of-age party in Compton, authorities said.
The three victims were standing in the 500 block of West Raymond Street near where a quinceanera--a traditional Latino celebration of a girl’s 15th birthday--was being held when four men approached at 10:52 a.m. Saturday and began shooting, said Deputy Cruz Solis of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The four gunmen fled on foot into Raymond Street Park, Solis said.
The dead were identified as Compton residents Javier Rios and Salvador Saenz, both 21. The woman, whose name was not released, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where she was reported in stable condition, said Deputy Faye Bugarin.
