Catcher Mike DiFelice of the Arizona Diamondbacks was arrested outside a Pittsburgh nightclub early Tuesday and charged with assaulting two women and punching a parking attendant.

DiFelice, 32, posted $6,000 bond and was released Tuesday afternoon from the Allegheny County Jail, where he was held on two counts of simple assault and one count each of indecent assault, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 31.

Also on Tuesday, DiFelice and Pittsburgh Pirate first baseman Kevin Young each were suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount for their fight in a game Aug. 14.

Both players appealed and can continue playing until a hearing before baseball officials.

Police said DiFelice was arrested for punching a parking attendant after being thrown out of the Area 51 nightclub.

DiFelice was in town for Arizona’s three-game series against the Pirates, which began Tuesday.

A 28-year-old woman told police that DiFelice grabbed her buttocks after he began rubbing her arm and she told him to stop. A 35-year-old woman told police that she intervened and DiFelice burned her buttocks with a cigarette lighter.

DiFelice then punched the 28-year-old woman in the face when she tried to help the 35-year-old woman, police said.

Police said club security tried to remove DiFelice, who broke away and began assaulting the woman he had punched, before he was removed from the club.

DiFelice’s attorney, Paul Boas, did not immediately return a call for comment.

The Diamondbacks declined comment. There was no comment from the nightclub.
