Thousands Attend Evangelical Crusade

More than 31,000 people attended a three-night evangelical event over the weekend at Ventura’s Seaside Park that featured contemporary Christian music and Gospel presentations, organizers said Monday.
The Harvest Crusade, which was staged Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, was making its first visit to Ventura since starting the Christian-based revivals a decade ago in other cities, organizers said.
“It’s kind of like a Billy Graham event. It takes a lot of churches working together to make it happen,” said Rick Doucette, the event’s director.
Members from 121 churches in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties participated in the crusade, which cost about $300,000 for musical groups and rentals, Doucette said.
