Worker Killed, 2 Hurt by Falling Marble Slabs
A worker was fatally injured and two others were hurt Wednesday when 800-pound marble slabs fell as a crew was unloading them from a truck, Orange County coroner’s officials said.
A 21-year-old Tustin man died shortly before noon at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, said Joseph Luckey, supervising deputy coroner. The man’s name was not released pending notification of his relatives. The injured men were treated and released.
The victim was one of five employees of a marble and tile company on White Star Avenue. They were unloading the slabs off a truck at the business shortly before 6:30 a.m. when a supporting structure gave way, investigators said.
