Drug Charge Filed Against Rodney King
From Times staff reports
Rodney G. King, whose beating by police officers led to the 1992 Los Angeles riots, was charged Thursday with being under the influence of the drug PCP.
The misdemeanor charge was filed by the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. King, 36, was arrested Tuesday in nearby Claremont after a motel clerk called police to say that a man appeared to be intoxicated or on drugs.
The Altadena resident was freed on his own recognizance and ordered to appear for a hearing on Oct. 2 in Superior Court.
