Cheer for Children in Redondo Beach needs people to serve food and entertain children at a Christmas party at a school for handicapped children Dec. 14 and for acutely ill children at a hospital Dec. 22. Also needed are trucks, drivers and volunteers to load trucks Dec. 19; volunteers to wrap gifts Dec. 20; and toy donations. Information: Pam Edwards, (310) 540-2494.
* Five Acres Boys’ and Girls’ Aid Society of Los Angeles is holding an open house 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to kick off the holiday toy and food drive for abused and at-risk children. Needed are new sports equipment, certificates to sports and clothing stores, dolls, board games and bikes. Families need food baskets, turkeys, diapers, new clothing and grocery certificates.
