Joe Sakic had four assists and Adam Foote had three to help the Colorado Avalanche post its fifth straight home victory Monday with a 4-2 win over the Ottawa Senators at Denver.

Colorado got second-period goals from Greg de Vries and rookie Radim Vrbata to break a 2-2 tie.

Chicago 3, Montreal 2--The Blackhawks’ Steve Sullivan scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period at Montreal to help Chicago stop a nine-game winless streak. Sullivan also had two assists.

Mike Keenan was hired as the Florida Panthers’ sixth coach. He replaced Duane Sutter, who was fired a day earlier.
