Raytheon Receives T-6A Production OK

Raytheon Co. said the Air Force approved full production of its T-6A military training aircraft, a decision that could be worth at least $3 billion to the company in coming years.

The decision to move to full production will allow the Air Force and the Navy to buy up to 615 additional training aircraft, as they gradually replace the Air Force’s T-37B and the Navy’s T-34C aircraft.

Raytheon dismissed a report released last month by the Pentagon’s top tester, which concluded the aircraft was unreliable and potentially unsafe, saying it dealt with problems which Raytheon already had addressed.
