* TheraSense Inc. shares rose 4.9% after U.S. regulators said the company’s blood-sugar monitoring system for diabetics could be used on parts of the body other than the fingertips. Shares of the Alameda, Calif.-based company rose $1.15 to close at $24.45 on Nasdaq.
