Slain Teen Was to Testify Against a Gang Member
An 18-year-old man shot to death outside a friend’s home in Boyle Heights might have been targeted because he was scheduled to testify against a gang member, police said Friday.
Jose Luis Sedano was shot in the 3000 block of Ganahl Street at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday by someone who approached him on foot.
“He was set to testify in the near future against a rival gang member” charged with shooting Sedano in 1999, said Los Angeles police Det. Joe Preciado. “He had been intimidated not to talk. It’s quite possible this is related.”
