Jail Worker Arrested in Escape Plot

A Panama City jail employee has been arrested and accused of giving inmates hacksaw blades in a plot to help three of them escape.
Correctional Officer Wilmer E. Thursbay was arrested on charges of conveying tools in a jail escape, according to Bay County sheriff’s investigators.
Tipped off jail officials discovered 15 hacksaw blades in inmate David Sheffield’s cell.
Sheffield and inmates Mark D. King and Johnny R. Fife were charged with planning to escape.
