Awaiting Punishment

Share

The Mighty Ducks did not practice Sunday, which gave the team plenty of time to reflect on their brawl-filled 4-0 victory at Calgary the night before.

Although the league didn’t announce any disciplinary rulings Sunday, the Ducks understand they’ll likely be given some type of punishment before their game against the Colorado Avalanche tonight at Pepsi Center.

Forward Kevin Sawyer could be suspended for running into Calgary goalie Mike Vernon in retaliation for Craig Berube’s body check on Mighty Duck goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere.

Coach Bryan Murray said he’s not sure how the league is going to respond.

“I don’t have a clue anymore on how they do these things, but I know what I saw and I know what the tape shows,” Murray said of a game that featured 19 fighting penalties and 309 combined penalty minutes. “It should be interesting.”
