County to Consider Fines for Messy Yards
Yuba County officials say they’ve had enough of residents who fill their yards with broken-down cars, old appliances and other junk.
County code enforcement officials, their files bulging with 400 complaints of trashy yards and garbage, are considering citations and fines. The county Board of Supervisors, which has complained that current policies to address blight have no teeth, may take up the issue next month.
Code enforcers currently have no power to cite or issue fines. New regulations could also include liens against property owners.
