Staff Is Not Looking for Transfer QBs

Share

UCLA will be at the top of quarterback Brandon Hance’s wish list when he transfers from Purdue today, but it is unclear whether the interest will be mutual.

The Bruins already have commitments from two high school seniors--Matt Moore of Newhall Hart and Drew Olson of Piedmont--and are pursuing one more, Trent Edwards of Los Gatos.

UCLA coaches, worried about losing Moore and Olson or scaring off Edwards, said Tuesday they are not recruiting any Division I transfers or junior college quarterbacks--which would appear to rule out 6-foot-7, 250-pound prospect Nathan Chandler of Pasadena City College as well as Hance.

Edwards (6-4, 195), considered one of the nation’s top prospects, said he will visit UCLA, Stanford and Michigan.

The Cardinal is his first choice, although his SAT score might not be high enough for Stanford admission.
