Adult Day Care Center Will Close Today

Recent efforts to save the Burbank Adult Day Care Center were unsuccessful, causing it to close today.
The Assistance League of Southern California will shutter the center, which the group says has been unable to support itself financially since opening in 1998.
With a $250,000 annual budget, the program lost $70,000 this year alone, said Sandy Doerschlag, the chief executive director.
Katie Osterloh, league president, said Thursday that half of the center’s 30 clients have agreed to move to another league-sponsored adult facility in Hollywood.
The rest only attended the Burbank center occasionally.
Efforts by community supporters and advocates from the Alzheimer’s Assn. of Los Angeles will continue, organizers said.
